In the last chapter of Genesis, Joseph is a wonderful example of one that had great dreams. It seemed as if his dreams would never come true. Not because of his choices, but because of the sin that was around him. He didn't give up. Joseph went from a pit to the overseer of Pharaoh's house. Then when he was wrongly thrown in prison, he went from prisoner to overseer of the prison. After interpreting Pharaoh's dream, he was taken from prison and made a ruler in Egypt, second in power only to Pharaoh. If circumstances have you in a pit or prison, you must remain faithful to God to see your dream come true.
Joseph never sought rewards or honor. He was faithful and content where he was and accepted the responsibilities God gave him. We should always be content and do our best. Our work should not be for personal gain, but for serving God.
In Matthew 10:35-45 Jesus teaches that the greatest ambition
is to be a slave of all.
Genesis 39:3-4 "Now his master saw that the Lord was with Joseph and
how that the Lord caused all that he did to prosper in his house. So Joseph
found favor in his sight
and he made him overseer over his house and
all that he owned he put in his charge."
