Is That Really You?

Colosians 3: 5-10 "Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed,..Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him …"

You may feel that it is just not your nature to live a life that reflects love. If you are born again, your real nature is love. When you gave your life to Christ, the old man died and God took his place. As a Christian, you must let Him live through you.

The devil would like for you to think that it is normal to lose your temper and not be merciful. Actually that human nature died when you were saved but you must be transformed by the renewing of your mind. You might wonder why you still want to do some ungodly things and behave in an ungodly manner if the old man died. Your inner man is where God lives, but your problem is with the outer man. Paul says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. You have choices to make.

Romans8:36 "As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."

As you read the Bible daily, you are feeding your inner man so that he increases and the outer man decreases (dies). Your outer man (human nature) can truly be put to death. You must choose to read the Bible everyday and apply it to your life. As you apply the Word of God to your life you actually kill the ungodly outer man and his desires. Colossians 3:15 tells us to let the peace of God rule in our hearts. Colossians 3:16 tells us to let the Word of God dwell richly in us. If you are going to dwell somewhere, you have to find your way inside. The Word of God must come into our hearts through our ears and our eyes. The verse says to let the Word of God dwell richly. The word of God will not dwell richly in you if you are not reading diligently. Richly means abundantly. Is there an abundant amount of the Word of God in you? If not, there is a very easy way to solve the problem. Start reading the Bible everyday and start applying what you read.

When you decide to be a diligent reader of God's Word, you will experience the peace of Christ ruling in your heart as verse 15 describes. You will be able to know that the real you is Christ living through you and that you have the power available to you through the Word of God to experience the victorious life.

If you are a Christian, the Greater One lives inside of you. It is a daily process to live in the example that Christ has set for you.

Galations 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
