A Rock House

Proverbs 30:26, " The conies are but a feeble fold, yet make they their houses in the
rocks;"

Conies look like a cross between a field mouse and a rabbit. They're not
very fast because of their short legs, but they build their homes in rocks. They
live up above timberline where the snakes cannot get them. It takes effort to climb up to the higher rocks. It would certainly be more difficult to search for a suitable home high in the rocks rather than in a whole in the trunk of a tree or a cave close to the ground. The conies know that if they chose a home that was easy for them to get to that it would also be easy for their enemies to get to. We must be wise and take this illustration from the Word of God to heart. Our lives must be sold out to God. When we are wholeheartedly living for Him in a higher spiritual realm, then and only then are we truly living in the Rock. To reach this higher place, we must be prayers, we must be devoted to the reading and doing the Word of God and a people that will turn our backs on sin. We must live above the spiritual timberline where our enemies dwell. Our only safety is in Him.

Psalm 61: 2 " When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the Rock that is higher than I."

Psalm 18: 2 "The Lord is my Rock and Fortress my deliverer, my God in
whom I will trust."

Psalm 91 is called "The Soldiers Psalm." In World War I, the 91st Brigade
read it each day. They fought three bloody conflicts but not one soldier was
killed.

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the
shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my
Fortress: my God; in him will trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the
snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee
with His feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:"

Are you in a spiritually safe place? When the storms rage, are you protected? Do you have peace in your life? One dry day, a wind-whipped prairie fire swept across a farmland, destroying crops, barns, and animals. The farmer walked through his fields after the fire had passed. He kicked a lump of coal and out ran a bunch of little chicks! It doesn't matter how dry things get or how hot the fire burns, you can have peace and stay safe.

Psalms 32:7, "Thou art my hiding place; Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance."

An art contest with peace as the theme had several entries in the form of sculpture, oil painting and photography. The winner was a picture of ocean waters billowing in huge waves, trees bending in the wind, dark clouds in the sky, as one ray of sunshine hit a huge rock that was hanging out over the waters. There was a little bird up in the cleft of the rock with his little beak open, singing a song. This picture reminds me of the lyrics of the song, "Sheltered in the Arms of God."
" So let the storms rage high, the dark clouds rise, They don't worry me for I'm sheltered safe within the arms of God."

Purpose in your heart today to find your way into the arms of God through reading the Bible and prayer.
